Sports Luxe Styling

I asked over on Twitter (if you’re not following me you totally should be @realist_review) if you guys wanted to see more 'how I style this'/fashion fitness-esk posts, and over 70% of you beautiful people said Yes! So to start off my fitness/fashion portfolio of outfits, today I'm looking at how I style my trainers.

NIKE
Starting off with the coolest looking, I love the NIKE roshe runs' in the colour Bone, exclusive to JD. These are so flipping comfy and versatile in every way; colour, sizing, outfit matching, gym wearing, anything you can think they go with it. I adore wearing these with some relaxed jeans or leggings (New Look), an oversized shirt (New Look), a leather jacket (River Island) and tones of jewellery for a more dressed up relaxed look.

ADIDAS
These are my favouriteeveryday trainers because there so damn comfy, in every weather and terrain condition. I love pairing these trainers with some comfy jeans or jeggings (River Island), an oversized white shirt (ASOS), tones of jewellery or a big statement piece, and a smarter handbag (Kate Spade); This combo makes it feel super relaxed but also a bit edgier and smart. Now, for those bad hair days I love adding a hat to hide the bad hair day and to add a bit of a mafia/gangster vibe.

NIKE
Next up are my gym shoes, these are my NIKE training shoes in black and grey. I love these for the gym, there so comfy but supportive especially for booty days. I tend to pair these with my gym attire, which usually consists off my leggings (Gymshark) a sports bra (NIKE), a vest top (Domonys), and a jacket to go to the gym in (Barbour), now depending on the temperature I will wear a t-shirt on top of my vest (NIKE). This is my easy ready to go gym outfit that will go with any shoe colour or any coat colour.

Girls Guide to Buying A New Car

Girls Guide to Buying A New Car

So I picked up my first ever brand spanking new car from the showroom on 23rd January, I got the KIA CEE'd Special Edition SR7 in Track Red and because I got a new car, I went to Twitter and asked you guys if you wanted to see a 'Girls Guide' to buying a new car because lets be real, the car world is a man's world and I want to change that! GIRL POWER!!

This is not a bragging post, nor am I endorsed by KIA to bring you this post. This is based on my experience of buying a car from the dealership and the tips/tricks that worked for me. This post does not reflect KIA's service nor am I suggesting you buy a KIA.

1. Look through all the cars you like and test drive them ALL, you'll honestly get the best feel for the car that way and you can feel if the car feels right for you. Plus it's so much fun!

2. Don't be disheartened by the waffle they try to sell you, I honestly had no clue what half of the things I got told meant but I kept confident and used my fail safe 'and what will that mean in context of the car'

3. STRUT YOUR STUFF go into that dealership strong, sassy and confident! If you start off strong and tell them exactly what you want exactly how you want it, it shows them you mean business and won't take no for an answer.

4. Do not take no for an answer! You want that car at a certain price, you demand that car at a certain price. These dealerships can knock off around £900, give or take per dealership, so they can offer you an amazing deal just don't back down!

5. Don't take the first offer they give you, make them sweat...walk away and tell them you'll consider the deal and you'll get back to them. Then go back lets say late afternoon the next day and say that you'll have that car but negotiations need to be made first.

6. Make sure you have a good play with the car before you make any decisions, play with the doors, press buttons, get in awkward positions, turn lights on and off, make sure the car will fit your lifestyle. Whether your a shopaholic like me and need enough boot space to put all your bags in, or want enough leg room for those killer heals.

7. If you can don't take your partner with you, or your Mum and Dad together, play the simple card and say that you need to talk the offer over with your family because it's a big purchase and you might some back but that other dealership did seem  like they could get you a better offer. Don't let them talk you into buying it there and then!!!!!!

8. If you feel like there messing you around use Twitter! You have no idea how quickly the issue your having will be sorted, the headquarters will be straight on the phone to the dealership because social media complaints is the quickest way for the complaint to spread and they cannot afford to have that.

9. Don't let anyone influence your decision, if your partner says oh you need this because it'll make the car faster or it'll make the car do this, no. If you like the car how it is, in the spec that's in ... stick with it! You'll be paying tones more for features you probably won't even use.

10. If you don't feel comfterable with the dealership or your sales advisor, change them! Don't accept anything less than perfection, buying a car shouldn't stress you out it should be fun and a really amazing experience. Just enjoy being able to have an excuse to be super demanding ;)

Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy

Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy

Can I get a halleluiah! This is a miracle product!! BareMinerals have created foundation that is going to help promote clearer skin, for those of us with acne or those of us who are blemish prone, this WILL revolutionise your make up routine.

This is the BareMinerals Blemish Remedy Foundation, I have mine in Clearly Silk, and this stuff has changed my skin for the better. This is so finely milled that you don’t even feel like you’re putting foundation on, you just feel like your buffing your skin for the lovely feeling – I use the recommended Seamless Buffing Brush and this is just ohh yes on the skin.

The foundation is a super lightweight but buildable coverage and is so creamy it sashays onto the skin, whilst making pores look smaller and helping to control oil production and shine. It works amazingly at reducing the appearance of redness on the skin and certainly evens out your skin tone, without drying it out. The powder is infused with Aspen Bark and Tea Tree Oil which will actively work to help promote clearer, healthier looking skin, whilst giving you the coverage confidence you want from a foundation.

Now, the design off the product is something I’ve not seen before from BareMinerals and that is this meshed covering, very strange when you first use it but this spring operated little mesh design allows enough product to cover your face with but not too much that you’re wasting any and avoiding contamination, plus its super fun to tap your brush into. This foundation is tremendously pigmented so a little really goes a long way, plus using it with the seamless buffing brush ensures you have the smoothest application.

I believe that Bare Minerals has changed my life since discovering it and with this new product they have not failed to impress yet again. My skin has been so much clearer and on days when I have got spots, I know putting this on my face will not only cover them but aid them.

Warren JamesXSwarovski Stephanie Rose Gold Set

One of my main gifts for Christmas off other half was this beautiful Rose Gold set from Warren James, I've never owned rose gold jewellery before so it is taking some getting used too but none the less if your looking for something special for someone, this could be your guy.

Both the earrings and necklace are 9ct gold with a rose gold finish, and set with the most beautiful Swarovski crystals that really add a flash and sparkle when caught in the light. The necklace is a 18" (45cm) long chain and has an adjustable back chain so you can wear this at a multiude of lengths, I prefer to wear it at it's shortest (sits just slightly below collar bones) and the longest length (sits about 1" and a half down).

The earings have a butterfly backing so are super comfy to wear, even when sleeping, and fit within the area of the ear. There's no real weight to these earings so you don't feel like your being pulled down all the time either. They have a simple rose gold rimming around the Swarovski crystals which really draws the eye in to the centre sparkle, for me they really dress me up and feel like a main feature of my jewellery.

This set is just gorgeous and in a simple summary, exquisitely designed and made. Whenever I wear this set, alongside my Fossil rose gold bangle (you can read about that here) I feel very luxourious and find that it's a fail safe for any outfit,  from Sport Luxe to Nights out, this set is suitable for everyone.

What's In My Bag?

Monday, 18 January 2016

What's In My Bag?

Normally I try to coordinate my bag to my outfit or shoes, sad I know, but oddly I really enjoy it; Today I’m using my black Kate Spade Felix bag with long strap, as I’m in a fling it on my shoulder mood. I’ve done a full review of this bag which you can find here, it’s just such a good quality handbag staple.

Now, I’m super weird with my money and cards and I don’t really like to keep them together purely because if they were to be taken *touch wood*, then I want to know my more personal debit/credit cards are hidden away in the inside pocket of my bag.  So I have my black leather Ted Baker purse and my Oliver Bonas grey and mint card holder, to keep my entire very personal details/receipts/cards etc safe in my bag.

I also keep a little make up/necessities bag that I can just take out and put into other bags, knowing I have everything I need. This little bag was a present for my 18th birthday off my Mum and Dad so it could probably do with updating soon, post to come on that one, inside I have some Bare Minerals lip gloss – standard, some paracetamol, some wet wipes – because when you have your partner’s 7 year old sister, 6 year old nephew and 3 year old nephew, they tend to be messy, lip balm to try and help stop my lips being even more chapped, face powder, a parker pen, and other miscellaneous bits and pieces.

Naturally I have my umbrella by tote for those dashing to the shops days, and my Rayban polarised Aviator sunglasses – these are customised, for when I nearly get blinded in the car by the sunshine when it decides to make an appearance, some impulse body spray as at the moment I’m preferring body spray to take out with me opposed to perfume.

I never go anywhere without my car keys and to help me find them with a bit more ease, as I’m prone to losing them in my bag/the house/work, I have a New Look grey pomp om keyring which makes them super cute but easily findable! Plus a cute little Cath Kidston love heart keyring, my Tesco clubcard and an O’Neil pink wrist band that comes in so useful.

And of course I would be lost without my house keys which feature an old Butler and Wilson bear, a 21 keyring, my Tesco clubcard, trolley pound and a beaded keychain that my partners 7 year old sister made me when she was 5/6.

Laura Geller Holiday Glamour - PART 3

Laura Geller Holiday Glamour - PART 3

I received the Laura Geller 8 Piece Roman Holiday collection for Christmas and as it's quite a large set, I thought it would be best to split it up into 3 parts. As this is Part 3, these are the final products included in the set - The lip liner, lipstick and luscious lip gloss.

Now, if you want THE most perfect lipstick colour ever then you need the Colour Enriched Lipstick in Rouge Audrey in your life, this is a real pinky red but when applied it's the most perfect match to your lips and makes them look so incredibly full. It's pigmented, creamy, smooth and so long lasting, I wore this whole lip combo on New Years Eve and I must say...wow, it lasted the whole night and  didn't smudge on that midnight kiss.

For lining or over-lining your pout the kit comes with a Pout Perfection Lip Liner in Tulip, this is a pinky/mauve colour long-lasting, transfer resistant lip liner that glides on the lips and gives complete coverage without sinking into the cracks on your lips. This liner is infused with jojoba oil and vitamin E so it's not only looking amazing but doing amazing things for you

Last but by no means least is the Colour Drenched Lip Gloss in Piazza Pink, this super vibrant strawberry pink makes your lips look huge without overly faking it. Theres no minty smell, or tingly feeling that you usually associate with some lip plumping glosses but this is so full coverage and glossy that your lips are so emphasised they look like you've had a lip job (in a tasteful way). This gloss is infused with emollient oils and vitamin E and it's non sticky!

Laura Geller Holiday Glamour - PART 2

I received the Laura Geller 8 Piece Roman Holiday collection for Christmas and as it's quite a large set, I thought it would be best to split it up into 3 parts. So today I introduce you to the Eyeliner, Eyebrow, Mascara and Shadow set.

The shadows' included in the set are incredibly pigmented! You get 3 shadows in the palette, these start with a soft pink (Barque) then move into a warm brown (Cafe) and then deepen into a shimmery intense purple (Roma), so you can really build up on a smokey eye or just have a defined crease with a hint of shimmer. I wore these shadows on New Years Eve at the Skyline Bar and even with my super oily eyelids, these shadows stayed as pigmented as the moment I applied them.

The mascara included in this set is the StyleLASH Intense Lengthening Mascara, and oh my word does it lengthen. I've found the brush to be very delicate but it does allow a more precise application to the lashes and it really defines each and every lash, leaving them soft and flake-free.

Now the brow pencil is a bit of a strange one for me, as I've never used a gel pencil before so the concept was a bit alien at first but after swatches and usage this thing is AMAZING! It glides onto the  brow and defines the shape beautifully, the comb spoolie helps to comb out the brows before and during your definition process, plus the gel coating within the product helps to keep my brows in place all day long!

Lastly in the eye department of this kit is the I-Care Waterproof Eyeliner, this eyeliner is double ended with a smudger at the opposite end of the eyeliner to help create a smoked out waterline. Personally this doesn't glide on as  well as the Bare Minerals eyeliners but it is incredibly long lasting for nights out and I even struggled to get it all off at the end of the night! So for longevity this is a 10 out of 10!

Laura Geller Holiday Glamour - PART 1

I received the Laura Geller 8 Piece Roman Holiday collection for Christmas and as it's quite a large set, I thought it would be best to split it up into 3 parts. So today I introduce you to the Balance-N-Glow Illuminating Foundation in Medium.

This is quite possibly the prettiest foundation I have and probably ever will own, this is a powder foundation but is swirled and baked to create amazing coverage but also looks so natural and really gives your skin a lit from within sort of glow. This foundation is exclusive to this collection as it combines the award winning Laura Geller foundation with the illuminating swirl throughout, creating a soft luminous powder finish.

Personally I've found this foundation to be medium-heavy build able coverage, so if your like me and prefer a softer finish but with a little more coverage than your standard foundations but want something you can build on for an evening out or event, this is the one for you. When swatching on the back of your arm/hand it doesn't do it's self justice, it will just look like a basic foundation, but when you swirl this over your face the illuminating pigments will start to buff out and really start to illuminate your skin.

New Look Pale Grey Leather-Look Strap Pom Pom Keyring

IT'S SO FLUFFY!!!! Isn't this just the most cutest little thing ever? I'm incredibly late to the fur pom pom trend but this one from New Look is just too cute not to get. It has a gold clasp to attach to your bag and a grey leather strapping to attach the pom pom with, this was a little bargain at £3 odd but I think for Winter it's just too cute not to have!

Some of my other favourite online pieces, that happen to be fluffy, are;
TIP – If you’re wearing a one colour outfit add different textures to make it interesting! If you’re wearing faux leather legging/jean things, pair them with some suede booties, a furry bag and wave your hair, instant interest and glam.

Getting Your Fitness Mojo Back

Sunday, 3 January 2016

Getting Your Fitness Mojo Back

Getting your fitness mojo back after Christmas is hard, you’ve spent a couple of weeks eating some amazing food and some not so amazing; my Dad will never learn not to cook the leeks in the steamer with the rest of the veg, no matter how much I detest and protest it, you’ve been having late nights and even later mornings, drinking with friends and family or if you’re like me; watching your family make fools out themselves and unable to string sentences together but now Christmas/New Year is over and you have to bring yourself to sign up to the gym, like you promised yourself you would at the start of last January…or your having to pull yourself back to the gym after the festive season, even harder.
‘Skinny people look good in clothes, Fit people look good naked’

THINK POSITIVE
Thinking positive is one of the best things you can do, if you go into your new fitness regime thinking negatively your setting yourself up to fail already, so thinking positive about your workout will help get you pumped and ready to smash your daily goals. I like to think about what workout I’ll be doing that day, so it might be leg/bum day so I’ll say to myself ‘Right, today I’m going to push myself on the squats and up my reps and weight, and even if I can’t do it first time…I WILL push myself and smash it second time’ Remember, you won’t see progress over night but it will be so worth it in the end.

NEW CLOTHING
May sound silly but I find that when I buy new fitness clothing it makes me more inclined to work out because I want to wear my new clothes and see how they perform for the duration of my workout, but also because I want to see if they make me look good; especially when you take a visit to all outlet stores and get everything for a quarter of the price….not that I do that nearly every month at all.

‘Look in the mirror, that's your competition'

FITSPIRATION
As you may have seen in previous posts I totally believe in ‘Fitspiration’ which is where you will fill your social medias or Tumblr if you prefer with your fitspiration. So for me I follow people like Hiedi Somers, Beth Trueman, Nikki Blackketter, Jen Heward etc on Instagram and Twitter, so when I see them posting new gym moves or new meal techniques I can get inspired and keep on track seeing their results. Obviously this will differ for every single one of you but it’s a great too way to be consistently inspired.

MEAL PLANNING
Another great way to get back into the swing of things, or just to maintain your current mentality/physique is to meal prep. Now this doesn’t have to be as extreme as weekly meal prepping, you can literally just meal prep the next 2 days; which is great for people, like parents, who are having to constantly juggle hundreds of different things in one go! You can plan your meals out by writing them down for the week, and if you’re having let’s say Spaghetti Bolognese on Monday, and Chicken Wraps on Tuesday, you can prepare both of these on Sunday afternoon/evening and just box them up to portion sizes, pop them in the fridge and all you have to do is reheat them. I like to make 2 days’ worth of food in advance for the convenience after the gym, when I cannot wait for food to cook I can just take one of my meals out and I know exactly what’s in it and that its good for me; I take my meals to work too for lunch - So Sundays dinner will be Mondays lunch.

SET YOUR GOALS
Setting goals and tracking your progress is a great way to keep motivated and stay on track, by simply setting your goals in place you know which lane you need to be in to get to the finish line. Set yourself Short, Medium and Long term goals; so in the short term you want to lose/gain weight, in the medium term you want to maintain the weight lost/gained and start to tone up or maintain your current physique, and in the long term you want to be toned/maintained with the desired physique. Once you’ve hit your first set of goals, start to up them – So it could be that you want to increase the amount of weight you can handle, or that you want to row further, or that you want to be able to run for longer, it can be anything just remember to build up slowly and then kick that goal.
