Urban Decay Naked 3

I am so behind the crowd with this one but I finally have it! You are looking at, well reading about, the new proud owner of the Naked 3 palette (Woohoo). It’s taken me a while to make the decision to buy this palette as I’m not a huge eyeshadow fanatic but having used it, I am a eyeshadow lover again!

The Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette comes with 12 never seen before shades, in rose hued neutrals, with a range from lights, shimmering pinks, to deep glittering blacks there’s something for everyone in this little magic bar. There’s a variety of mattes, pearlescent and metallic, so something for every occasion whether you want to jazz it up in the office or smoulder in the club. These shadows are super mega pigmented, and feature Urban Decay’s Pigment Infusion System, so they apply lovely and velvety without compromising on bendability, colour or staying power. The embossed rose tin case is really sturdy so you can throw this in your bag and know your shadows are safe, the shadows also come with a double ended brush (which is cruelty-free) so even if your just starting out you’re not left high and dry.

As you can tell the theme of this palette is very rose and pink toned with a lot of shimmer/glitter, and who can say no to more glitter. Personally I like to wear more pinks/golds/earthy toned colours appose to more primary colours, but you can still create some incredible looks with these colours. They apply incredibly easily and if you make a mistake like applying too much of Blackheart, like I did - brilliant I know, then they blend out so quickly without making a mess of your already created work. There’s barley any fall out from these shadows even if you really dig at them, the remainder doesn’t budge.

Let’s start from the beginning; the first four shades of the palette are your very light colours, Strange / Dust / Burnout / Limit. Strange and Limit are your super velvety base colours or highlighter colours, whilst Dust and Burnout are your super shimmery sparkle colours

Next up we have your slightly deeper colours, Buzz / Trick / Nooner / Liar, Buzz and Trick are again your super shimmery sparkle colours, whereas Nooner is more of a matte velvety colour, great for the crease or as a transition colour, and Liar is a very beautiful velvet colour with a hint of shimmer in it.

And last not least we have the ultimate dark colours, Factory / Mugshot / Darkside / Blackheart, Factory and Mugshot are much deeper in colour but lighter in shimmer, whereas Darkside is darker in colour but has slightly more shimmer, and Blackheart is a super black/red with flecks of rose gold shimmer throughout, the real show stopper.

As my first official eye shadow palette I can happily recommend this to anyone and everyone, the quality of the shadows and the brush, the application, the pigmentation are all above basic expectations. If you haven’t already got the Naked 3, do me favour? Get this bad boy in your bag!!

Bare Minerals Everyday Flawless

Bare Minerals Everyday Flawless

I love Bare Minerals, every single product I have used by Bare Minerals I’ve loved so, it goes without saying that when I got this Flawless Face set for my 21st birthday I was one very very very happy lady. The kit contains 7 make up products including 2 brushes for the perfect flawless face.

We’ll start from the beginning from when you apply your base, naturally you want something that won’t clog your pores, make you look cakey or make you look like you have tones of make up on, so you get the Bare Minerals Original Powder Foundation with SPF15, to buff all over the place. I can literally apply this stuff without a mirror and know it looks okay!

You then get the Bare Minerals Multi Tasking Concealer, now this stuff is something else. I’m used to cream/liquid concealers and was a bit sceptical about a powder concealer but this little gem is a wonder product! It gives you a super natural finish without going cakey on first application or throughout the day, which really impressed me and exceeded expectations. Now the Bare Minerals Brightening Pearl Natural Light Mineral Veil I never really understood, to me it was just like adding another layer but since trying it out (and it resembling a mermaid’s skin) I can say that this gives you THE most beautiful iridescent glow from within and makes you look like you are some sort of superhuman.

If I go to my partner’s house or friends for the night, I tend to take compacts/pallets with me instead of pots otherwise I end up with a whole overnight bag of pots of make up, so this Bare Minerals Ready Colour Boost Compact is great because it contains 3 of Bare Minerals bestselling shades – True, Glee and Warmth.

You have your Blusher, Highlighter and Bronzer all in one super slim compact with a huge mirror! The colour payoff is incredible, these pressed powders are super pigmented and really long lasting, you can use them individually or swirl them all together for an all over glow.

Now let’s just take a moment to appreciate the creamy loveliness of the Bare Minerals Purely Brilliant Lipcolour in Fresh Mauve, this stuff glides on like a balm but has the longevity of a lipstick and is really pigmented. Fresh Mauve isn’t a bold colour but more of a your lip colour slightly deepened, if you’re not into bright/dark/bold lip colours, don’t want a your lips but better colour or can’t wear them every day for work reasons then this colour will be your new best friend for your handbag. I’ve found myself reaching for this so much because it’s just so versatile, I tend to keep mine in my car as my go to.

Along with all this abundance of products you get 2 face brushes, the Flawless Application Face Brush and the Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush. The flawless face brush I tend to use for my foundation, mineral veil or sometimes highlighter depending on the finish I want. The brush has natural, soft tapered bristles to provide light-to-medium coverage. Where as the Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush is a super silky smooth texture that allows full concentrated coverage, so if you want to hide those dark circles from your late night binge on Netflix then this will be your saviour brush.

With this set you can fake a whole night’s sleep and make people think that your always that you’ve always had that natural healthy glow.

River Island Khaki Green Soft Palazzo Pants

River Island Khaki Green Soft Palazzo Pants
As I was on holiday for my 21st birthday I wanted to put together a birthday outfit for the evening that would keep me cool but also help me look a bit more put together and ‘on trend’ (this will never happen) but something I could wear more casually too.

I’ve seen that he big flared 70’s/80’s palazzo pants are coming back into fashion and as I never usually follow a trend I thought why not follow one that’s going to be comfy and will still look good once the trend has passed. My take on this trend are the River Island Soft Palazzo Pants in Khaki Green, they do come a bit pricier at £38.00 but also come in other colours and as they are River Island I know they will be amazing quality. My logic behind these are that they will look super effortless and easy but chic at the same time. I wore these with my white crop top from New Look, my H&M layered gold necklace and my sandals from Marks and Spencer.

The material of these trousers is so light and breezy without being see through, which is what I find a lot of the cheaper alternatives can be like. I’m wearing a size 10 and am about 5ft 6/7inches, and these fit beyond perfectly. I usually struggle with trousers fitting my right as my legs are so long but these fit like a glove around the waist, without restricting my breathing, and skim the leg and just hit the floor.

These will massively crease in a suitcase so making sure your destination can provide an iron or an ironing facility and make sure to give them a heads up that you need one!
As you can see above I have a black crop top on also from River Island that I wore out for the day recently as it was so humid, to make the outfit more casual than so dressy (as my white one was in the wash) but I have inserted below a full length photo from my holiday of what the outfit actually looked like on my birthday.

No7 Extreme Length & Dramatic Lift

No7 Extreme Length & Dramatic Lift

I recently went to Portugal with my partner (read all about that here) and as I am a complete genius I managed to forget my mascara, god only knows how I managed to do this. So I literally had to jump out of my boarding que to run to Boots opposite and grab a mascara as close to the till as possible, so these where the 2 I grabbed in my mad fluster. The No7 Extreme Length and Dramatic Lift.

The first one I tried was the No7 Extreme Length Mascara, the mascara has a straight wand with rubber bristles so there is some flexibility with the wand when applying. I have to admit it doesn’t apply clumpy; it glides on the lashes and is buildable providing you can apply your mascara fairly swiftly. I found this did lengthen my lashes but not as much as my all-time favourite, Max Factor False Lash Effect, but it did the job for the holiday. Personally I found that it did define my lashes more so than lengthen, I look like I had more eye lashes but with a comprise on the length.

My second one was the No7 Dramatic Lift Mascara, which I have to admit it’s a bit meh. Used in conjunction with the Extreme Length it adds thickness and makes your lashes look a lot thicker but on it’s own I wasn’t that impressed. It does add some lift to your lashes giving them the appearance of being longer and fuller but not as much as it claims too, personally. The wand has rubber bristles again but it is curved to follow the natural shape of your eye, which does make it easier when applying. I would use this mascara again but more so for those ‘no make make up’ days, when you want a little something that says I woke up with perfect eyelashes but nothing too much.

Overall both of these mascara’s are good they last all day, even in Portugal’s 36c heat, and don’t melt onto your upper eyelid/brow bone area. They don’t smudge or go flakey and melt off the lashes when being taken off with a cleanser. I would use both of these again but not necessarily buy them again. They will probably be better on other people but for myself personally there something I wouldn’t take to a desert island.

Time in Portugal - July 2015

Time in Portugal - July 2015
I recently went to Portugal with my partner, as my 21st birthday present off him, this holiday was a surprise destination to myself until the day we departed and it was the best surprise ever.  I want to give you guys an insight into Portugal and the places we visited, so for those of you are thinking about going may want to take inspiration.

Colina Dos Mouros, Silves, Algarve, Portugal
We flew from Birmingham International Airport and landed in Portugal on time, from there we got on our transfer which whisked us off to the hotel which was lovely, Colina Dos Mouros in Silves.  We had a room which overlooked the town and the castle ruins and also a bit of the pool below. Our hotel was based in Silves which is a small town about a 20minute or so taxi ride from Albufeira (50 Euro return - the main town), this little town is predominately restaurants and more older people reside here but it was beautiful and quite.

For my 21st birthday we went up to the Castle of Silves and paid 5 euros each to enter the castle which had a feature night on, this included a famous Portuguese musician and belly dancers, free massages’ and complimentary black figs. These feature nights only happen for a limited period of time in the summer months and happen every Thursday.

The Castle of Silves is a castle in the civil parish of Silves in the municipality of Silves in the Portuguese Algarve. Built between the 8th and 13th century, the castle is one of the best preserved of the Moorish fortifications in Portugal, the most important Moorish fortification resulting in its classification as a National Monument in 1910"

As well as being a short taxi ride to the main town, we also experienced Slide and Splash – an extremely popular water park in Portugal which was brilliant fun and really beat the heat. There are numerous different rides and they all cater for everyone’s different preferences. There are deeper pools or shallower ones, a children’s area, Jacuzzi, large swimming pool, the list could go on.

ZooMarine is almost like a zoo but for aquatic animals, at ZooMarine they promote knowledge, preservation and environmental education in a fun and passionate manner. They try to transport adults and children to a world of dream and fantasy, by creating unique emotions and moments that touch heart and awaken minds. My moment was when I was able to get one step closer to my dream of swimming with dolphins, I had the opportunity along with a few others to touch a dolphin and have a photo with one, which will be an unforgettable experience.

Albufeira is the main ‘strip’ in Portugal as it houses all the shops, bars, clubs etc and a beautifully stunning beach, it can get extremely noisy and busy so make sure your belongings are close to you when you go. Not only does Portugal show you it’s more westernised and busy side it also shows your it’s heritage and in keeping with it’s heritage you will often see the incredibly clean streets in the most amazing patterns, with some of the original tiled walls too!
